西門町名稱由來起源於日據時代當地的行政規劃，由於地理位置恰位在台北城西門外，故稱西門町，日本政府決定模仿東京淺草區的規劃，在這裡設至臺北座、榮座和八堂等等，讓西門町逐漸在台北城嶄露頭角，1990年代後期規劃了行人徒步區，週末和國定假日禁止車輛通行，讓許多青年學子可以來西門町恣意的逛街漫步，至今西門町更成為小型活動、簽唱會和記者會的場地，也有10多家以上的電影院在這裡營業，成為台北著名的商圈。 / K% `+ ?; k* |% J! qtvb now,tvbnow,bttvb6 e) J/ l: d2 A7 Y% m3 t

Nowadays, Exit 6 at MRT Ximen Station has become a popular meeting place for young people. If you walk a little further down the pedestrian zone, the square in front of Watson’s is a popular site for small concerts and pop star autograph-signing events. Ximending, the city or shopping place looks like very western and international style. Calvin Klein underwear, California fitness, New York Yankee and some American movie commercial, all are the American stuffs.
