“水天一色，水平如境，是一个远离嚣市、未被污染的处女湖，有高原明珠的美誉。每逢晴天，蓝天白云，倒映湖中，水天一色，景象奇丽。犹如一块明珠镶嵌在群山怀抱之中，碧波荡漾，风光迷人，有“高原明珠”美称。这里古朴的民风，秀丽的山光水色与浓郁的传奇风情，充满了神秘的色彩。 5 |0 k0 n& Q S: _2 d& X

居住在这里的是摩梭人（注：不是“摩梭族”，中国56个民族中没有“摩梭族”。新中国成立后，国家民委等部门在第一次民族识别中，将泸沽湖畔的的摩梭人识别为纳西族），摩梭人有自己的母语摩梭语，与纳西语有共同之处，但是没有自己的文字。其文化为达巴文化，信奉藏传佛教。摩梭人是中国唯一仍存在的母系氏族社会，实行“男不娶，女不嫁”的“走婚”制度。”# o7 h# p# r; I. K; o: F5 q# S4 i
