Hong Kong people, before 1990s, only think Chinese is Cantonese.

Y) W" Z公仔箱論壇What's wrong with the word "Chinese"?  The word "Chinese" has multiple implications, just like any other words like "English" , "German" and "French"~~~   When you are in a place where majority of the public speaks Cantonese (which is a local dialect of Chinese), asking a person to "Speak Chinese" means you want that person to speak in that local dialect, i.e. Cantonese in this case!
