[新聞] [2011美洲盃] * Messi, Agüero and Tevez signed a commitment in favor of children and counter discrimination

      BUENOS AIRES, June 24, 2011 – Lionel Messi, UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez signed the UNICEF commitment to favor children and counter discrimination, this afternoon. An initiative of the United Nations for children, with the objective to obtain signatures of thousands of people in Latin America who support children and teenagers’ rights to be protected from any kind of discrimination.

      Julián Weich, Argentina’s UNICEF ambassador, and Ernestina Pais, invited the players of the national team to be the first to sign the UNICEF public commitment a few days before the beginning of the 2011 Copa America,  a beneficial event.

      The campaign objective, which will be evident throughout the entire tournament, is to celebrate diversity, spread awareness about the impact discrimination has on life, and improve life opportunities for thousands of children. With the slogan “with your signature kids win”, everyone who would like to subscribe and be part of this initiative can sign up digitally at:

      The commitment in favor of children and against discrimination includes the prevention of violence against children, access to education, medical service for those born in other countries, inclusion of indigene community, and eradication of  the conditions of poverty, and prevention of circumstances which do not ensure the well being of children.

      The players of all national teams that will play the 2011 Copa America, sportive journalists, arts celebrities and the UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador, Manu Ginobilli, will all sign the commitment.
