Sometimes the motto of government in Hong Kong seems to be if in doubt set up a committee or a commission. There are commissions looking into all kinds of things in Hong Kong. Some worry though that one important organization is lacking: a Children’s Commission. Even the United Nations has suggested we need one. 1 ]* } ~0 V( n) |9 G; j( dtvb now,tvbnow,bttvb 2 U5 i+ c* h/ [" N* Jtvb now,tvbnow,bttvbMaybe it’s something to do with the passions of youth, but in many cultures and places universities and colleges are among the politically radical organizations around, often taking up issues like democracy and universal suffrage as causes. Hong Kong’s Gini coefficient, one measure of disparity between rich and poor, is one of the world’s largest. Images of the cramped living conditions in which some of Hong Kong’s people live have made international news and earned us the dubious distinction of being labelled as turning our poor into battery hens.
