Widespread reports claim Tottenham Hotspur star Robbie Keane is poised to finalise his move to Liverpool after completing a medical on Merseyside.
Keane has told his North London employers that he wants to leave White Hart Lane and it is believed that Liverpool have had a bid of around £20 million accepted for the Republic of Ireland international.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reported The Reds to The Premier League for their pursuit of the player but it is now expected that Rafa Benitez will complete the signing of the 28-year-old imminently.
He has completed his medical and, providing the finer details of the deal are completed satisfactorily, Keane will replace Peter Crouch at Anfield following his move to Portsmouth.
Keane departs White Hart Lane having become a firm fans’ favourite after scoring 107 goals in five seasons in North London following a £7 million move from Leeds United in 2002.
The Dublin-born striker first burst onto the scene with Wolves in 1997 before earning a move to Italian giants Inter following his exploits with Coventry.
He spent just four months in Milan before joining Leeds United on loan in December 2000 and made his move to Elland Road permanent at the end of that season.
With Keane now poised to join Liverpool, Tottenham will have to address the future of Dimitar Berbatov who has attracted interest from Manchester United.
