iPad 影片支援格式是mp4,而音頻是aac，是蘋果的格式。
m4a是純音頻MP4檔案、採用了".m4a"命名。m4a的本質和音頻MP4相同，故音頻MP4檔案亦可直接更改副檔名為M4A。

了，其實文件擴展名唔重要，

就好似avi/mpg 改去mkv或乜鬼www/yyy，只要放映軟件有解碼都可以放映

佢講M4a令人誤解係音頻文件

自從Apple開始在它的iTunes以及iPod中使用。m4a以區別MPEG4的視頻和音頻文件以來，.m4a這個擴展名變得流行了。目前，幾乎所有支持MPEG4音頻的軟件都支持m4a。

hey sorry about the confusion! Yes I just need the mkv file to be converted to iPad Videos playable MP4 format so I can choose to turn on or off the traditional Chinese subtitles. Don't need to read it to be too technical ok? Anyone can help?

Not sure how to use the link you sent me. I am using Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate 7.7.1 now but somehow cannot convert the mkv file into iPad MP4 with Chinese Subtitles all going wrong with encoding. So I just need some kind soul to convert the mkv with Chinese subtitles that's all. PLease don't over complicate things.

Hi, I already stated that the subtitle is an external source so somehow cannot encode on Xilisoft. If you can convert for me using the files I already provided for in the link, then do it. Please do not send me suggestions when you half-know what I want. If there is embedded subtitles I can do it myself. So let's just stick to my original request ok?

just rename the subtitles file same with the video file in same folder, then you can choose to embeded the sub into video to convert to any format you want.
Do browse to the option to learn about the subtitles encode, I use Chinese unicode subtitles & set the subtitles encode option to chinese Big5, don't know why set to unicode is display ??????? in sub.
you may use a short video clip to test for a while before do the full video in case wasted time.

not to complicate the situation, just to teach you so next time no need to request help regard this.

with any video converter, I do alots. I always convert HD mkv with sub embeded/external sub ChiS/ChiT to DVD for playback with DVD player.

It's ok... s-k CHing already showed me the possible way of solving the problem. He's a user of Xilisoft Converter and I'm also very comfortable with it.
