Genoa swoop to sign Milito and Jankovic
Genoa have completed the double signing of Real Zaragoza'sArgentinian forward Diego Milito and Serbian midfielder Bosko Jankovicfrom Palermo.
The deals were confirmed late on Monday night after initial confusion aboutwhether Milito's move had gone through before the deadline in Italy had passed.
The two players' names appeared on an official list of transfers published onthe Lega Calcio website, www.lega-calcio.it, before Genoa themselves finallyconfirmed the Milito move.
A statement on read: 'Genoa CFC have completed within thedeadline the practices relevant to the acquisition of the forward Diego Milito.
'In the next few days we will await the international clearance of thetransfer from Real Zaragoza.'
According to reports in Italian newspapers Gazzetta and Corriere dello Sport,Milito's Spanish owners had spent the day trying to push the forward to joinTottenham.
The transfer of Jankovic meanwhile was earlier confirmed by the player's formerclub Palermo.
A statement on their official website read: 'US Cittadi Palermo have agreed the transfer of midfielder Bosko Jankovic to Genoa.
'The Serbian player joins the Rossoblu on loan while the club reserve theright to a fee for co-ownership.'
Genoa are still to make an official statement about the Jankovic deal. |
