I also had a chance to visit Shakespeare's birthplace at Stratford-upon-Avon two years ago as part of my tour of England. You don't really have to be a Shakespeare fan to enjoy the visit. I could feel the history inside the house. But actually I enjoyed more walking around the garden with beautiful flowers at the back. Too bad, I didn't have enough time to go to visit Shakespeare's wife Anne Hathaway's Cottage. BTW, I bought a booklet there which entitled "Shakespeare - work, life and times  -- Official Guide".  It has some good information and interesting pictures about his birthplace and around Straford-upon-Avon.
