意大利演员Lorenzo Richelmy将主演Netflix十集新剧《马可波罗》（Marco Polo）。著名导演Joachim Ronning和Espen Sandberg在执导《加勒比海盗5》之前会执导该剧的前两集。该项目原本在StarZ开发，但后来因为种种原因转到Netflix。该项目最初计划在中国取景拍摄，因为官方手续繁杂，剧组在等待了一年半之后仍无批复结果，只好转向马来西亚（部分意大利场景在威尼斯拍摄）。根据剧名就可判断，该剧描述了13世纪意大利探险家马可波罗在中国的传奇经历。据称该剧的核心元素包括「武打戏」、「性爱戏」、「宫廷斗争与政治斗争戏」、「壮观的战争场景」，等等。应该说，这些都是中国观众从骨子里喜爱的元素。参与演出的国际演员包括英国的Benedict Wong、中国的朱珠、香港出生伦敦长大的Tom Wu、澳大利亚的Remy Hii和美国人Rick Yune。Netflix计划在今年下半年播出该剧。看一群中文都说不好的假洋鬼子演纯粹的中国戏是什么滋味？看了之后你就知道了。
