二严寺(又名佛阁)，原位于南桥镇人民北路，始建于元代，下筑月城，寺内殿宇小巧玲珑，别具一格。由百年樟木雕刻而成二米高的千手观音像在“文革”期间被付之一炬，成为二严寺历史的一大遗憾。1993年，二严寺由南桥镇人民北路搬迁至沪杭公路1749号现址。“二严”意为：“智慧庄严，福德庄严”。菩萨只有智慧、福德都圆满了，才能悟知佛性。 二严寺占地面积7000平方米。寺旁两株银杏树植于宋朝年间，据今已有800多年历史。
