Sometimes the motto of government in Hong Kong seems to be if in doubt set up a committee or a commission. There are commissions looking into all kinds of things in Hong Kong. Some worry though that one important organization is lacking: a Children’s Commission. Even the United Nations has suggested we need one.公仔箱論壇% p' Z) Y8 t; L- P5 l

At the Hong Kong university’s student union though, an intense battle is taking place between pro-Democratic and pro-Beijing factions.

Hong Kong’s Gini coefficient, one measure of disparity between rich and poor, is one of the world’s largest. Images of the cramped living conditions in which some of Hong Kong’s people live have made international news and earned us the dubious distinction of being labelled as turning our poor into battery hens. With us in the studio is Leo Goodstadt, former Head of the Central Policy Unit, who has just completed a book on poverty in Hong Kong.
