you dont need to use ddr3, change the motherboard to something that use ddr2, with the money you save on the MB and ram use it on larger monitor or better case/power supply or better video card(if you play game).

and amd dont make bad stuff, my 3 years old amd opteron 165 still work like new running 24/7 overclock(1.8ghz to 2.5hz air cool).
